DIED
In New Orleans, February 11, 1815, Thomas Buford, Esq. late a member of the
House of Representatives of the state, from the parish of Concordia. The
deceased, on the morning of Saturday, was walking on a levee near the market, at
the same moment that a detachment of soldiers was performing a funeral ceremony
in front of the church; a ball struck Mr. Buford in the head, which caused his
death the same night. On Sunday afternoon, his remains were conducted to
the grave with military honours, attended by Major Planche's battalion of
volunteers, Major General Andrew Jackson, Governor Claiborne, General Morgan and
a large concourse of officers and citizens, anxious to pay the last sad tribute
to this brave and excellent man.
