WILL AID MOVEMENT

G.A.R. Posts Back of Effort to Secure
Appropriation
(Special to the Morning Star
November 7, 1905)

Moline, Illinois November 6 - Members of
Graham post of this city and John Buford post of Rock Island, G.A.R. met in
Masonic hall in this city and planned to aid in an effort which is to be made to
secure an appropriation from the state with which to erect cottages at Quincy to
be devoted to homes for the widows of old soldiers. The cottages are to be
an addition to the soldiers' home, if plans carry.
There were addresses by L.
M. Magill, Dr. J. W. Morgan. John Gamble, E. B. Knox and others. Instead
of asking the board of supervisors of each county to contribute to a fund for
the purpose of establishing this home for widows, and effort is to be made to
get the money from the state, and the two posts here will work with posts
throughout the state.
