Alzheimer's
Live with laughter and love with
all your heart.......
It was a
busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly
Woman
in her 70's arrived to have stitches removed from her thumb.
She said
she was in a hurry as she had an
appointment at 9:00 am.
I took
her vital signs and had her
take a
seat,
knowing it
would be over an hour before someone
would to able to see her.
I saw her
looking at her watch and decided, since I
was not busy with another patient,
I would
evaluate her wound.
On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the Doctors,
got the
needed supplies to remove her sutures and redress her wound.
While taking care of her wound, I asked her if she had another \
doctor's
appointment this morning, as she was in such a hurry.
The woman told me no, that she needed to go to
The nursing home to eat breakfast
With her
husband.
I inquired
as to his health.
She told me that
he
had been there for a while and that he
was victim
of Alzheimer's Disease.
As we talked I asked if he would be upset if she was a bit late.
She replied that he no longer knew who she was, that he had not
recognized
him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him,
'And you
still go every
morning, even though he
Doesn't
know who you are?'
She smiled as she patted my hand and said,
'He doesn't Know me, but I still know who he is.'
True love is
Neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an Acceptance of all that is,
Has been,
will be, and will not Be.
Happy people do not necessarily
have
the best of everything;
They just
make the best of everything they have.
'Life isn't about
How to survive the storm,
But how to dance
In the
rain.'
